Frequently Asked Questions

From Questions To Answers

Despite its demands, India’s social and development goals remain largely underserved. The impact of this gap will be felt by the marginalized and at-risk communities even harder in the years to come. Our objective is two-fold: 1. We want to significantly expand the retail donation landscape in India. Ensure that Social Development Organizations/NGOs making an impact have access to the funds they require to bring about a change among sections of society that require support and encouragement in order to live a decent life 2. Create a space for the average citizen to get a deeper understanding of the real developmental issues that face our country, and through that understanding build empathy and the habit of giving. We have a very strong belief that each one of us can make a difference and Ek Ka Josh offers us a transparent and trustworthy way of participating in making a difference.

Currently many of these NGOs struggle to get adequate funding. Ek Ka Josh will project the outstanding work done by these organizations to a large universe of retail donors. We will create visibility for these NGOs in a very transparent manner that will encourage retail donors to participate in much larger numbers and with much greater frequency.  We will be creating a dynamic digital space that empowers One individual to connect with one or multiple NGOs and causes they want to support. The app-based platform will be designed to create a social community with Giving at its core.

It is an audacious vision. 100 million Indians joining the Ek Ka Josh journey is going to be a tremendous challenge. We hope to reach this number by 15th August 2030. The day and year are symbolic. We celebrate 15th August as our Independence Day, and 2030 is the year by which all countries across the globe have committed to reach their Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations.

We would like to give NGOs that represent causes from all the 16 SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) an opportunity to present their work and the impact that they are making and use this opportunity to raise funds for the same. India has one of the largest Social Development Organization (NGOs) eco systems in the world. While there are a few well known NGOs that many people are aware of, there are hundreds of smaller NGOs doing amazing work on multiple causes across the country. Ek Ka Josh will help bring visibility to the causes that these NGOs are working on and help them raise funds for the change that they want to bring about. We will also assess them for compliances so that supporting them becomes easier for the retail donors.

Most of the fund-raising platforms operating today focus on funding for individual emergencies like personal medical emergencies or other such personal tragedies. These are focused on reducing the burden of an individual. Ek Ka Josh will focus on supporting NGOs with their projects and programs with an eye on bringing about a long-term change.

The Ek Ka Josh platform is currently being set up, and we require funds to build our technology platform and to run our operations. While the founders themselves have brought in funds, we require additional funds to launch Ek Ka Josh. Our foundational support comes from our initial Angel Donors. With this, we have been able to begin developing our platform. You can be an Angel Donor with a minimum donation upwards of Rs. One Lac. Our website lists our current Angel Donors, and we will recognize your contribution by listing your name. We hope you will be able to join us as an Angel Donor. If you require any further information, you can contact us on ekkajosh.org@gmail.com.

Ek Ka Josh Foundation is a Section 8 Company, governed by the Companies Act. Section 8 Companies are set up to address social and development issues that our country faces; their purpose is not to make profits but to make a positive impact on society. While Section 8 companies might have a surplus generated from their activities, that surplus must be ploughed back into the organization and cannot be withdrawn by the founders or the directors. We have set up Ek Ka Josh Foundation with only one purpose in mind – to make a difference to the lives of millions of Indians by supporting the great work done by Social Development Organizations or NGOs.

Please write to us on Ek Ka Josh on ekkajosh.org@gmail.com with your query and we will get back to you at the earliest.

NGOs that are interested in increasing their retail funding can send in a request on ekkajosh.org@gmail.com. On receiving this request, we will send across a short form, to capture basic information on the NGO, that the NGO will need to fill and send back to us. Once we review the form, we will get back to the NGO and start the process of listing on Ek Ka Josh. The process will be very simple, transparent, and quick.

We will help the NGO tell their story in the most effective and engaging manner. One of the main objectives of Ek Ka Josh is to provide a much larger audience for deserving NGOs, so that the cause they represent is shared with a much larger audience. This visibility will help NGOs in their fund raising as well as building their capabilities.

We will track the progress of the projects that the NGO is raising funds for, and share that information on regular intervals with givers who have contributed towards that project. This will ensure better visibility and credibility of the change that the NGO wants to bring about.

We encourage small grass roots NGOs to join Ek Ka Josh, share the work that they are doing, and use the platform for fund raising. We want to provide visibility and credibility to smaller NGOs who struggle to reach a larger audience across the country.

To ensure transparency and credibility of the NGOs that are listed on the Ek Ka Josh platform, we will have a multiple screening process that will involve, studying the prior track record of the work that the NGO has done; any certifications that the NGO would have received from specialized agencies that provided accreditation; work with agencies that specialize in measuring impact of the work done by the NGO. Ek Ka Josh will partner with agencies that specialize in evaluating NGO performance, to ensure that funds collected are channelized to the most deserving NGOs and utilized in the most effective manner.
